Dreams are not meant to put us to sleep, but to awaken us.

Have you ever had the feeling that your dreams are trying to tell you something? Well, they usually are, but it is not easy to decipher the bizarre images and physical inconsistencies that are the hallmark of dreams. While there are many theorists who claim to know what your dreams mean - you are the best interpreter.

To say "It's only a dream" devalues what many people hold to be one of the highest and purest forms of truth. There seems to be knowledge revealed in the twilight between conscious reality and a dream world that is much less definable, but at times more "real" than the experiences of day-to-day life.

Dreams can hold great meaning and mystery at the same time. Whether one approaches dreams as the subconscious attempting to process the unresolved experiences of life or as a metaphysical phenomenon, it is useful to identify archetypes, images, and symbols to help us to understand the dream experience. Interpreting dreams requires taking information and applying it to our individual circumstances to search for insight and meaning.

However, the knowledge contained in dreams can be elusive. What we recall from dreaming is often fragments or images that seem disjointed, but at the same time potentially meaningful. The interpretation lies hidden in visual images, emotions, or other thoughts and experiences that appear to coexist in the dream, but do not seem logical to our conscious minds. There are other times however, when our dreams seem forthright and clear in their messages. Some are even accurate premonitions.

While the psychological content of dreams defies scientific classification, the physiology of dreams has been thoroughly researched. Numerous scientifically observable cues allow the trained observer to see that the subject is dreaming. This research proves that dreaming is, in itself, a true and universal event.

Dream interpretation can be an asset to you, as searching rewards the seeker. It may lead you to the knowledge and insight required to conquer irrational fears. You may gain new insights into relationships and the self-destructive patterns you may be projecting upon them. You may discover the goals you would like to achieve in your work, leisure time, and other endeavors. Ultimately, you may gain a window into your soul. The struggle is finding the courage to look - and the patience to stick with it.
